  2. Just wanted to thank all once again for a trip that Neil and I will remember for the rest of our lives. We have been privileged to meet such wonderful people, to share in so many laughs and also to have such special memories.
It does not seem that long that we left home, we are shortly going to sit down (after a nana nap) and have a look at the many photos we have taken.
Thanks to all who have put in the enormous workload to arrange the trip, you have delivered with not only the beautiful grounds but the scenery that we saw each day.
Take care all, catch up soon

  3. Thankyou for giving me castles, a chance to score, a ride in a comby van, rabies from a dog, a hedgehog, a 3 course meal at Trevor Oliver's pub, an addiction to smoking and drinking, a cold from the rain, a view from many cricket pavillions and possibly a facebook fan club. Thankyou Wattlesprigs. I look forward to touring with you again.

  4. WOW, don't know where to begin, it was a tour that had everything. The cricket, scenery and most important, the people. I had the most amazing time that exceeded all expectations. Thank you to all that made it the trip of a lifetime. The 30 odd days spent with the group will hopefully turn into friendship for life even with the distance involved. To the Gemmill boys you had better keep this going so others can experience what we have been lucky enough to.
I don't care where our catch up is, I will go anywhere to catch up.
    Thanks everybody
    Anton

  8. Hey All,
I'm back in Perth safe, sound and without any vomiting! I'm sure like all of you I can't believe how quickly the trip went, but I had an absolute ball and I hope that in 4 years time I will be able to go back again. Certainly let me know if you're in Perth down the track.
    Cheers

  10. Hope you had a great trip and a safe trip home. It was great having you back in and around Grafton again you must tour again! That night at the Blue Boar after the game was pretty savage. Was talking to Rossy the other day about his walk home. Hilarious - 7 miles!!
Anyway would be great to hear from you soon

  11. Well I hope we are all getting over the jetlag and back in clean clothes and off the black/yorkshire pudding and fish and chips.
There were many great highlights that we will all have a chuckle about of the next 12 months or more.
The legendary Hood Ennals laugh, the cutting and vindicdive fines master of Blowie Parker, the classic one liners of my little buddy Clifford the Confesser Cameron, the dry wit of big Wellsy, the exceptional staying power of the man of Steel Brian Burke, the cryptic and measured comments of Mr Cleary even the joke telling of our resident dentist Doc Whelan. Cyril our mascot the post card perfect cricket grounds, the tragedy of Teddington where the silver soverign stared death in the face, the countless soft tissue injuries, trying to run my brother out at Raby Castle.
On the field Moff,Jonesy,Jorden and A and G Thomson come to mind but cannot compete with the Foo and Doyley ball.
Personally the plane trip from Seoul to Melbourne with the wonderfully attentive staff( who couldn’t speak English) those comfy chairs, the 2hr film of a fish bowl and the rice porridge completed a memorable trip.
Thanks for a great trip to all and hope to see some of you in the future.

I went on the trip to play some games English soil and watch some Ashes cricket, this was certainly achieved playing on and seeing some of the most picturesque fields you could imagine. As well as touring with a great bunch of people. Thanks everyone for the memories and thanks to Dave & Steve and Bertha for a great trip. Hope to catch up again soon.

  14. And same goes from me. I've had an amazing time with you all and look forward to future trips/tours together. I'm writing from Antibes on the South coast of France - whether spectacular (40 degrees this morn), Cannes yesterday, Monaco and Monte Carlo Casino the day before ( dinner = 3 main courses, 1 bottle white wine, 3 glasses champayne = €415 = yikes = credit crunch robbo style - thats gonna finish me off).
Back to London tomorrow night. Cyril pulled at a local bar here last night - hottest frenchy ever. He always gets the good looking ones.
Gotta run - I'll write again soon.

  15. Hi Spriggers,
A big thanks to you for making my cricket trip such fun, everyone had a "special quality" so no need to highlight anyone. Thanks to all for not giving phone numbers to me to report on my highlights. The "cockswell" after 3 days has subsided and all is well again. Mick Cleary has won the "Big Fat Bastard" a gain of 5.5kg over Archie due to unfair advantage for Victoria, Foo for W.A (easy), Wellsie for QLD & of course "Beeka" for S.A (48kg). I have continued the fine session at home, no pounds involved just a "bit on the side". If anyone passing through Cobram, bed & breakfast available (no charge), menu is green porridge, rice & seaweed or rice & beef. My option to turn gay has gone after waking to Cheetah each morning, nude, hairy & half er_ct, very scary Melinda!
    Thanks all
    Fiine Master
    Yours in Cricket

  17. Gday again fellow spriggers,
Just looking around websites of the clubs we played on tour to find any write ups, I just saw Barmy Army site, check this out http://www.barmyarmy.com/barmynews/index.php?m=barmyfull&iNewsID=259
They gave us nothing and said the fanatics were the main game, all poms hate getting beaten don't they! As far as we're concerned its Australian Wattlesprigs 1, Barmy Army 0!!!
    Cheers

  18. G'day Fellow Spriggers
I would like to reiterate what many fellow spriggers have already said, It was an honour and a privilege to travel with a bunch of Aussies who play for the love of the game.
I would like to extend my appreciation to everyone, for making this trip memorable, there where moment's during the trip, that some of you were aware of how difficult it was for myself and my Father, Noel and Brother's Greg & Travis, as my Son Todd was due to travel with us also. During these times we appreciate all your patients and shoulder's that some of you provided.
Dave & Steve, by including Todd and honouring him with an award, we will be forever grateful.
We know that Todd was travelling with us and experienced all the love and laughter that was shared around. There is proof of this as a picture taken and posted on the blog of myself standing under a rainbow, I am on the phone telling my wife that Todd had slid in on that rainbow, very uncanny.

Ayres Rock sounds good, just as long as the beer is cold, I promise to be more sociable next time...Gary

  19. Hi Everyone
Just a brief to thank you all for making the 2009 Wattlesprigs Ashes trip so enjoyable. My only bitch about the trip is my $30 excess baggage fee I had to pay with Virgin. I can't see how this is possible when Wellsy buys 15 shirts and 10 caps and is still under the weight limit.Maybe I need a lighter bat.
I have very few team photos.Rob was talking about sending something around and Silver Sovereign spoke about having a site for photos. I downloaded photos from the blog site but they appear to be of low resolution.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Moff (Mark Moffat)

  20. We will have fun over the next few months going through and sorting all our photos on the laptop. It should take a while as at a rough count we took about 2,400 photos and have around 140 minutes of video footage. Guess we won’t be getting them all printed off!!
Looking forward to catching up with you all when the time arises and please let us know if you are ever going past sunny Wangaratta as we would love it if you called in.
    THE END.

  21. My highlight was the first ball wicket on English soil and playing with Adam in the same game also watching Adam collect the fielding award.
Thanks for a great trip and if you ever do it again you can count me in.
    Cheers

  23. Hi All
I hope I am not the last to get around to saying thanks everyone for a fantastic trip. We have been flat out since returning home it took a few days to get home and then to get back to business. The farm looked great so that was a bonus. Steve I passed on the message about your daughter to Jordan I dont know if he has done anything about that. Also Hello to Tom from jordan I have some great photos I will get to you Tom. Jordan is back at work and recovering from injury he should have stayed with cricket. He injured his knee in the first 10 mins of the first game of footy he played since returning. It wasnt as bad as first thought so the cricket season looks good. Michael back into farm work but everyone around here knows that he made more runs than his son in england and jordan lost 100 pound to him. Me well I am back to the normal routine It was great to get home catch up with our youngest son.He is sick of listening to what a great time we had and looking at all the photos but he will get over it we did take him home great pressies so he may forgive us. Once again thanks everyone great to meet you all and keep in touch.
    Bye for now Regards
    Anne Whiting
