Captain Geoff Cameron was offered the toss and decided to bat. Opposition skipper for Tamworth was ex Yarroweyah United player Stuart Burrows…..We also thank Stuey for organising the fixture. Niel Orton (ex Yarroweyah)was at the game as well.
The wheels fell off early in the game, literally, as Big Wheels David Whelan and Small Wheels Glen Whelan were both bowled for ducks in the first over. Dr. Greg Thompson was the hero with the bat though making a superb 72 on a big ground (probably worth a hundred if the ground was smaller!!) David ‘Cheetah’ Brooks also batted well for 28, while Gary ‘Toilet’ Duns made 22. Rob ‘Comby’ Comerford was 17 no at the end.
Wattlesprigs 9/169
The bowling and fielding was always going to be a challenge with aching muscles and heads from the last 2 weeks. Travis ‘Noisy’ Noy was outstanding in the field again while Cheetah took a pearler behind the stumps late in the game. Dr. Greg and Gary Duns both took 2 wickets.
Tamworth won the game 8/170
